Crystal is a retired clinical psychologist, avid gardener, dharma practitioner and a Community Teacher at the East Bay Meditation Center in Oakland, CA. Through the many iterations of the course White and Awakening in Sangha, her dharma teaching focuses on supporting white practitioners to build awareness, knowledge and skills to challenge the dynamics of white privilege and race-based oppression, and to actively seek to address the harms that arise from

the delusion of race. She serves as a consultant for (white-dominated) organizations and individuals seeking to identify and address barriers to racial equity embedded in organizational culture, policies and practices. She supports the flourishing of the dharma in the world through her service on dharma center boards. She served as a Board Member and Treasurer of the East Bay Meditation Center from 2018-2024, and is currently serving on the Board of the Brooklyn Zen Center and as Vice Chair of the Board of the Sacred Mountain Sangha.
